The original Swedish Fish (not the ones found in the 100-calorie pack) have about 20 calories each.
How did I learn this? I read a blog dissing the grittiness of the fish in the 100-calorie pack. At the very end, the article states:
“Stay away from the 100 calorie snack packs. For 100 calories, eat about 5 of the larger fishes. ”
So, dividing 100 by 5 means that each of the larger, tastier Swedish Fish has about 20 calories.
It seems logical that the writer counted the number of fish in a regular pack, and then divided the calories stated in the nutritional facts by the number of fish in each bag.
Twenty calories each seems a little high, but they are worth every calorie they contain.
