How much should I tip for a massage?

For Mother’s Day my husband got me a gift certificate to a fancy spa for a massage. It’s a 50 minute Swedish massage that costs $135. How much should I tip?
(I’m so excited, I can’t wait for it. I’ve only had one other massage, on my wedding day and that was 5 years ago!)
$20…
none!!! wasn’t the price of the cirtificate enough!?
10 dollars at least
don’t! its a gift! or, to be nice, tip 25%
Big tip if its a happy ending.
Normal good tipping rate is 15%, if I enjoy the person and the service, I’d give 20.
Well ask your husband if the spa told him if gratuity was included with the certificate. It usually is. I had them hundreds of times. But if not I would give them at least ten dollars.
18% not too high and not too low
I actually think that there should be some thought put into tipping. Since this is the first time for a massage with this person, think about if you would go back for another, was the experience good, how do you feel, did they make you feel comfortable, etc. I would not tip just because. I feel tipping is due to good/excellent service. So if you feel good and will do it again, then 10%-15%. Remember this is a professional. They are not just earning $3.00 per hour plus tips. And I do agree that it is a gift…. the salons I go to ask that the buyer of the certificate cover the tip and tax in the total amount of the certificate. So check.
15% is the going rate of tipping for almost anything. Including massages.
