Anyway, just recently, I started taking a Swedish class. It’s really low-key. I want to get something for everyone for Christmas, but I have no idea what! My teacher is about 30, I would say, and my classmates are older people. There’s a man who’s about 80, his daughter who is probably in her 40’s, and another woman who is around 55, I would say. Now, I’m a 16 year-old girl, so I have no idea what I could get them! Does anyone have any suggestions? ):

My g/f is coming over around 10ish sat (early valentines day) was going to take her to a art museum (she told me a few weeks back that she really liked that sort of thing). Afterwards (this is sorta for me as well ^_^) was going to go rock wall climbing, as its probably something she hasn’t done before and this is most likely the iffy thing (however its different and out of what normal people would do I think). Next I was going to go get her a swedish massage I think it was called (if she goes for the rock wall i figured she might be sore this might be a good apology for putting up with me lol). Last would be of course dinner with the night ending with us “watching” a movie together.

so to recap
1st -art museum
2nd- rock wall climbing
3rd- swedish massage for her
4th- dinner
5th- movie together

We are all practicing naturists and are polygamous, but do you think it’s wrong that the parents take this much interest in their son’s sex life? This was not a gag gift, they have been receiving sex toys since 16 legal age in Scandinavian countries for such gifts.

. One of Ekvall’s case studies was a Swedish newspaper where the team working on the women’s section consistently outperformed all the other teams. The reason? Quite simply, this group trusted one another, had a high level of energy and shared a common sense of humour.

2. Develop Washing-Up Creativity. According to the Roffey Park Management Institute, most flashes of inspiration come to people when they are away from work and not forcing their conscious brains to find solutions to their problems. For some, ideas come while mowing the lawn or taking the dog for a walk or playing golf or waiting on a railway station. For Isaac Newton, it was an apple on the head while sitting in the garden. For Archimedes, it was in the bath. For others it’s while doing the dishes; that’s why Roffey Park calls these flashes of insight: “washing-up creativity”.

3. Make New Connections. Making new connections between existing features of your product or service is a popular way to innovate. Akio Morita, chairman of Sony, said that he invented the Walkman because he wanted to listen to music while walking between shots on his golf course. His team simply put together two seemingly incompatible products: a tape recorder and a transistor radio.

4. Find Out What People Need. Necessity is a great spur to innovation. Take, for example, writing paper. The Chinese had already made paper from rags around the year 100 BC but because there was no need for it, nothing came of it. When it did reach Europe in the Middle Ages when writing was all the rage, the supply of rags and worn-out fabric soon dried up. That’s when a French naturalist made the discovery that wasps made their nests by chewing wood into a mash that dried in thin layers. Within 100 years, all paper was made using the idea of wood pulp.

5. Test, Test, Test. Product testing is the way most inventors and organizations go about innovation. It may not be the quickest route to success, but it is often the surest. Jonas Salk, for example, discovered the polio vaccine by spending most of his time testing and testing and continually finding out what didn’t work. Thomas Edison, the inventor of the filament light bulb, recorded 1300 experiments that were complete failures. But he was able to keep going because, as he said, he knew 1300 ways that it wasn’t going to work.

6. Adopt and Adapt. One relatively easy approach to innovation is to notice how others deal with problems and then adapt their solutions to your own. It’s known as “adapt and adopt”. It’s what watchmakers Swatch did when they realized that the more reliable their watches became, the less people needed to replace them. Their solution? Borrow an idea from the world of fashion and collections by turning their watches into desirable fashion accessories. Now people buy Swatch watches not just to tell the time but because it’s cool to do so.

7. Take Lessons From Nature. If you really want to be inventive, you can’t beat nature. The world of nature gives us an endless supply of prototypes to use in our own world. Take Velcro, for example. Velcro was patented by Georges de Mestral in 1950 after he returned from a hunting trip covered in tiny burrs that had attached themselves to his clothing by tiny overlapping hooks. De Mestral quickly realized that here was an ideal technique to fasten material together. A whole new way of doing things was suddenly invented.

The history of the world is the history of innovation. Thomas Kuhn called each acceptance of a new innovation a “paradigm shift”. For once a new innovation becomes accepted, the world has changed for ever and can never go back to the way it was.

Whenever anyone considers the line “knowing me, knowing you”, there may well be a desire to add “ah-haa” as a suffix. Irrespective of whether or not we actually like the music of Abba, it is impossible to ignore the impact they still have on our cultural landscape – despite splitting up more than 20 years ago – and that their songs perhaps exist as personalised gifts from the band to us all.

Indeed, if this was not the case, surely Mamma Mia! The Movie would not be such a resounding success? Based upon the 1999 West End musical of the same name – naturally, minus the ‘The Movie’ suffix – Mamma Mia! The Movie is a tale revolves around a number of Abba’s greatest hits, with a few more amazing tracks by Benny Andersson of Abba fame, thrown in for good measure.

Sadly though, the song Knowing Me, Knowing You doesn’t feature fully in the film, which is a shame as it’s packed full of sentiments that we can all learn from. Essentially, although the song is about a relationship breaking down – which is always a terrible thing – but there are many lyrics within the track which could be used to represent the importance of really making we know and understand those closest to us – something that can be aided by the giving of personalised gifts. However, even when two people are likeminded – and it doesn’t matter whether they are friends, or something more – there can often be times when the “ah-haa” moment in the gift-giving process doesn’t come without a little prior research.

Personalised gifts can come in many different shapes and sizes. In addition to calendars and mugs, personalised gifts can also be engraved, and they can also be of a more unusual variety. For example, chocoholics may wish to consider opting for a personalised calendar for her, or maybe even a gold engraved My Last Rolo – after all, what personalised gift represents such a great expression of love and commitment as a delicious chocolate?

Lovers of fine tea may wish to consider a Bespoke Blend of Personalised Tea. Created by a master tea blender, this type of brew is crafted specifically to reflect the likes, dislikes and hobbies of the recipient; the correct combination of flavours crucially depends upon the giver really knowing the person they’re buying for. A great personalised gift for truly likeminded people.

But, perhaps because Knowing Me, Knowing You is a song about a failed relationship, there may well be other Abba songs that can inspire us to purchase amazing personalised gifts for those to whom we are most alike? After all, like the song Under Attack, Knowing Me, Knowing You was relegated to an instrumental piece within the film. Indeed, Souper Trouper – one of Abba’s most famous songs – speaks of reinvigoration and renewal because of a special person in the audience. Indeed, as the foursome so eloquently wrote in this song’s lyrics: “But I won’t feel blue … cause somewhere in the crowd there’s you.”

Written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the song started life with the title Blinka Lilla Stjarna – the words translate as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star – and marked the band’s ninth and final spot at number one in the UK charts. The song was also popular in a number of other countries, including West Germany, Norway, Switzerland and Austria, but failed to achieve the same level of success in the US. In 1999, Souper Trouper was even covered by A*Teens, a pop group from Sweden; although this is not the first time the song has been covered.

However, perhaps because all of Abba’s former members were together for the Swedish premiere of Mamma Mia! The Movie – for the first time since 1986 – perhaps more of the band’s work can be considered as inspirational pieces for the emotions that lie behind likeminded people buying personalised gifts. After all, even the most heart-felt of purchases require Money, Money, Money, and those who eagerly anticipate getting their hands on their goodies – from their Honey Honey? – may well be thinking Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
